About Us
Hilton Dermatology + Aesthetics is a family-run dermatology practice with three board-certified dermatologists dedicated to medical, cosmetic, and surgical skin care. With over 20 years of experience and formerly known as Skin Care Specialists APMC, we’ve served the Slidell community with a commitment to compassionate, ethical, and comprehensive dermatologic care.
Dr. Deborah Hilton is joined by her son, Dr. Taylor Hilton, and his wife, Dr. Sophia Mai, who came aboard in 2015 and 2016 and now help lead the practice. Together, the family works collaboratively to ensure every patient receives consistent, high-quality care in a warm and welcoming environment.

What Does "Board-Certified" Mean?
As there are physicians who practice dermatology without any formal training or credentialing in the field of dermatology, it is important to understand what board certification means. A dermatologist who has been “board certified” has undergone the strict training required by the American Board of Dermatology.
It starts with the physician doing one year of approved post-graduate training, followed by three years of specialized training in the study and treatment of skin, hair, and nails at an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited dermatology residency program. Only by following this training is the physician eligible to sit for a board examination, which extensively tests if he or she has acquired the expertise necessary to practice dermatology.
To be an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board-certified dermatologist, the physician must pass this exam and maintain certification through a series of exams and assessments throughout their lifetime. This process is designed to ensure that dermatologists are qualified to provide care to hospitals, insurers, the government, and dermatology patients alike.
